Stremme Lines Up Sixth at the "Magic Mile"

September 18, 2009

LOUDON, N.H. (September 18, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at the one-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway from the sixth position.

The No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team had a 90-minute practice on Friday to dial its car in for qualifying.  Stremme radioed to crew chief Roy McCauley explaining the car was a tick tight at both ends of the speedway.  The team made significant gains during the practice session and ended up 15th on the speed chart.

In the late afternoon qualifying session, Stremme was the 25th car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  The red and black No.12 Penske Dodge ran a time of 28.867 seconds which put him on the outside of the third row for the start of Sunday’s 300-lap event at the “Magic Mile.”

“We were just a tick tight in the center of turns 3 and 4,” commented David Stremme after his top-10 run.  “We have been good all day and I knew if I just backed up what I had in practice we would be fine.  We have really improved our qualifying here lately.  Coming back to tracks for the second time has really helped me, especially in qualifying.  I can predict what the car is going to do.  We will go on to tomorrow’s two practices and work to get our Dodge ready for the 300-lap race on Sunday afternoon.”

The Sylvania 300 will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 20 on the ABC television network. Race coverage will begin at 1 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
